Settings: Custom Tabs

Build your own Metadata Review tabs with the fields you choose

Overview

Custom Tabs let you build your own tabs in the Metadata Review window, each showing the metadata fields you choose. They sit alongside the built-in tabs so you can group the fields a particular task needs.

This tab lists the review tabs in their display order. Custom tabs can be edited, reordered, and deleted; built-in tabs can be reordered but not edited.

When to Use

Create Custom Tabs when the built-in tabs do not match how you review files. Build a tab for a specific task - such as a Copyright Check tab with copyright, creator, and rights fields, or a Client Delivery tab with the fields a client cares about - and arrange the fields in the order you want to read them. Reorder your tabs so the ones you use most sit first. Edit or delete custom tabs as your workflow changes; built-in tabs can be reordered but not edited.

Requirements

  • No special requirements - Custom Tabs settings are available immediately
  • Each custom tab needs a unique name of 1 to 50 characters and at least one field
  • Custom tabs draw from the same field pool as Quick View
  • Built-in tabs can be reordered but not edited or deleted; custom tabs can be edited, reordered, or deleted
  • Changes appear the next time you open Metadata Review

Managing Templates

Review the tab order

The list shows every review tab in display order. Drag any tab — custom or built-in — to reorder it. Built-in tabs can be reordered but not edited.

Create a custom tab

Add a tab, name it, and choose the fields it should show.

  1. Click New Tab to open the tab editor.
  2. Name the tab.
  3. Select and arrange the metadata fields it should display.
  4. Save — the tab appears in the review window.
Edit, reorder, and delete

Select a custom tab to edit its name or fields, drag to reposition it, or delete it when no longer needed. Built-in tabs can be reordered but not edited or deleted. To hide a custom tab without deleting it, turn it off in Tab Visibility.

Tips & Important Notes

  • Build task-focused tabs, such as a Copyright Check tab (copyright, creator, rights status) or a Location Data tab with the GPS and location fields you care about.
  • Put your most-used tabs first in Tab Order so they are easy to reach during review.
  • Custom tabs share the same field pool as Quick View, including the smart combined fields.
  • Built-in tabs show a built-in badge and can be reordered but not edited; only custom tabs can be edited or deleted.
  • Changes are saved automatically.
