Choose which metadata fields appear on the Quick View tab during review

Overview

Quick View Fields configures the Quick View tab in the Metadata Review window — the at-a-glance panel of the metadata that matters most to you. You choose which fields appear there and the order they're shown in.

This is a display preference for review; it doesn't change any stored metadata.

When to Use

Set up Quick View Fields so the metadata you check most often is right in front of you. Add the handful of fields that matter for your work - many people keep it to six to ten essentials - and put the most important one at the top. Favor the smart combined fields (like Photographer or Capture Date) when you want one consistent value drawn from whichever source has it. Revisit these settings whenever your review routine changes, and use Reset to return to the standard set.

Requirements

  • No special requirements - Quick View Fields settings are available immediately
  • Changes take effect the next time you open Metadata Review
  • Fields can be added, removed, and reordered; the top field appears first on the Quick View tab
  • Smart combined fields gather the best available value from several metadata sources

Enabled Fields

The fields shown on the Quick View tab, in the order they appear. Drag a field by its handle to reorder it (the top field appears first), or use the minus button to remove one. By default Quick View shows Photographer, Capture Date, Keywords, File Type, and Source Fields.

When to usePut the fields you check most often at the top, and keep the list short so Quick View stays a true glance.

The pool of fields not currently on Quick View; use the plus button to add one to the enabled list. The pool mixes smart combined fields — such as Photographer, Capture Date, Keywords, Camera, Lens, GPS Coordinates, and Location, which gather the best value from several metadata sources — with the individual fields from the Metadata Editor.

When to useAdd a field when you start needing it at a glance; remove fields you rarely check (from the Enabled Fields list) to reduce clutter.

Reset
Reset to DefaultsAction · Reset to Defaults

Restores the default set and order of Quick View fields.

When to useUse to undo heavy customisation and return to the standard glance.
ExampleAfter a one-off project layout, Reset returns Quick View to its usual fields.

Tips & Important Notes

  • Aim for six to ten essential fields so Quick View stays easy to scan.
  • Smart combined fields like Photographer, Camera, and Capture Date pull from the best available source, giving consistent values across mixed files.
  • Put the field you check first at the top of the list.
  • Changes are saved automatically.
